Care tips
Exercise
Sturdy climbing trees and daily play. They stay playful well into adulthood.
Grooming
Brush once or twice a week, paying attention to the belly and behind the ears where mats form.
Health
Prone to heart disease (HCM) and hip problems. Ask your vet about screening and keep them at a healthy weight.
Recommended food
A quality protein-rich food suited to large cats. Maine Coons mature slowly, taking three to four years, so kitten food is often fed for longer.
